Hello Summer?
Hello Summer?

The official season doesn’t start until June 21st, but it already feels like summer here in Central Georgia. On top of the heat, it feels like summer because all the kids are out of school and area pools and lakes are packed, especially on the weekends.

The hot weather can be brutal and that’s why you need to handle the heat with care. Here are a few basic tips.

  1. Stay indoors if possible.
  2. Stay hydrated at all times.
  3. Wear lightweight, light-colored, loose-fitting clothing.
  4. NEVER leave a person or pet in a closed, parked vehicle.
  5. Keep a close eye on the elderly, young children, and those who are physically ill.
  6. Limit your outdoor activity to morning and evening hours if you can.

There isn’t any relief in sight at this point with more above normal temperatures on the way. The long-term picture is looking hot too as the official summer season is expected to feature warmer than normal temperatures. Take it easy out there in the heat!
