Calvin Banks is a quiet and unassuming man. At the age of 56, he is a seasoned law enforcement veteran - and he got his start in his home county of Twiggs, when former sheriff Doyle Stone called him and asked him if he wanted a job in the early 1990s.
Calvin, married to Belinda, a family man, was born and raised in Jeffersonville. He attended Twiggs County High School, but "I didn't graduate then, I left to go to New Jersey, where I lived and worked." He did take some community college classes while in New Jersey, and later on got his G.E.D.
He had just been transferred back to Georgia with his job, when he heard from Stone. "I had never thought about being in law enforcement. In fact, I wanted to be a race car driver and a singer when I was growing up."
