I-16 Westbound Open Again After Accident | News

Interstate 16 is open again after an accident blocked westbound traffic Monday afternoon.

A serious traffic collision on I-16 West at Mile Post 3 closed the lanes just after 4:40 p.m., according to a Macon police news release.

Macon police say a woman driving east on the interstate lost consciousness and crossed into the westbound lane.

It says she collided with one vehicle and a third got stuck in the median while avoiding the crash.

The woman had to be cut out of the car, according to the release.  There's no word on her injuries.

The other drivers said they did not need medical attention, police say.
