Deer Hunting Begins with Archery Season
News

Archers, steady your aim: it's archery deer season Saturday.

According to a Department of Natural Resources news release, 188,500 archery hunters racked in 68K deer in the 2011 season.

The archery deer season runs through October 12.

Hunters are allowed a season limit of 10 anterless deer and two antlered deer. One of the antlered deer "must have a minimum of four points, one inch or longer, on one side of the antlers."

To hunt in Georgia, hunters need to have a valid hunting license, big game license and a current deer harvest record. If you're in a Wildlife Management Area, you'll also need a WMA license.
