Tattnall County Jail inmate possibly in Twiggs County

The Twiggs County Sheriff's Office is warning everyone to be on the lookout for a man they say escaped from jail in southeast Georgia.

Chad Everette Dasher is reported to be armed and dangerous, and law enforcement asks anyone who sees him to call 911 right away. He's about 5'9" and weighs about 140 lbs. Sheriff Darren Mitchum says multiple agencies have multiple warrants out for Dasher.

Sheriff Mitchum said his office was responding to a call about a suspicious person on Highway 96 around 1:44 a.m. Thursday, according to a news release. While on the way, that deputy came up on a scene that appeared to be an accident. The deputy ran the tag on the vehicle, and found it was stolen from Long County, Georgia. When the deputy contacted the Long County Sheriff's Office, investigators told him they believe Dasher stole that vehicle after escaping jail in Tattnall County in northwest of Long County.

The Twiggs County deputy searched the area but didn't find Dasher. Sheriff Mitchum says even though his office hasn't made contact with Dasher, he is believed to be in the Twiggs County/Highway 96 area. Mitchum is asking everyone to use extreme caution if they see the suspect, and to call 911 immediately.
