Twiggs County Marching Band Earns High Marks in First Competition | HS Sports
Congratulations to Twiggs County Marching Cobra Band who earned high marks in their first ever band competition! The TCHS Marching Cobra’s traveled to Dillon, South Carolina on Saturday, October 5th to participate in the 9th Annual Dillon Battle of The Bands.
Twenty-two bands participated in this year's competition, hailing from Georgia, North Carolina, Virginia, and South Carolina. Our Marching Cobras were the only band representing the state of Georgia, and they represented well. In the overall scoring the Marching Cobras placed third in their division – Class 3A.
The band was also awarded "Best Horn Line" –earning the highest music score of all 3A bands and they received an “Excellent” rating for high marks in Marching, Music, and General Effect. These are outstanding accomplishments for any band but even more so for a three year-old 1A Band Program in its first ever band competition.
The Twiggs County Marching Band is under the direction of Mr. Ernest Stackhouse, assisted by Willie Stephens, Brianna Pittman, and Yatisha Roberson. Mr. Jamie Paulk is Principal of Twiggs County High School. Look for the Marching Cobras in the Fort Valley State University Homecoming Parade, many local Christmas Parades, and the Annual Cherry Blossom Parade in Macon.
