Paper Purge: Toss Your Phone Books | Families
Be honest how often do you use the traditional phone book and yet you keep the 6 that seem to show up on your doorstep every year. Most people are more likely to pull out their smart phone to look up a phone number than the yellow pages.
Did you know you can opt-out of receiving your local yellow pages and phone books by visiting the National Yellow Pages Service Association’s opt-out site www.yellowpagesoptout.com? When you visit the site it will ask for your zip code and then reveal the phone books that are typically delivered to your area. In order to opt-out of getting these publications you have to register which includes entering your name, address, phone number and a valid email. The website will then send you a registration email with your temporary password. Using that password and your registered email address you can then log back on and select the publications you don’t want to receive. If for some reason you actually want more copies of a phone book, you can request that here as well. The disclaimer states that changes can take 6-12 weeks and with several books do for distribution in October now would be the perfect time to make some changes.
Now go and recycle those phone books cluttering your kitchen cabinet!
