Shine On In 2014 | Families
Welcome to 2014! Did you make resolutions for the new year? Have you broken your resolutions already? Whether you have or haven’t, the new year marks a time when we often decide we want to start fresh, make changes and generally improve ourselves to be better human beings.
For the past few years instead of making resolutions, I've tried to set goals for myself and come up with a theme word to serve as my mantra for the rest of the year. Abundance and growth were my theme words for the past two years and both served well as focal points for my goals and aspirations.
I have spent the last few weeks pondering what my 2014 theme word. Finally on New Year's Eve I decided that my word was SHINE.
- I want to SHINE a light on my business and organizing skills which sometimes I'm too humble or shy to talk about unless asked.
- I want to SHINE the light on my health and although I've been focusing on this for the last two years, I don't want to get complacent.
- I want to SHINE a light on my family as my children get older. We are all pulled in so many different directions and there are so many distractions.
- I want to SHINE a light on my personal goals including running at least one race each quarter (Disney Princess half marathon, here I come!) and continuing to learn about subjects that interest me.
For the rest of the year I will use the idea of shining my light into the world to guide my actions and goals. I think that 2014 looks so bright I’ll have to wear shades!
