Teachers: Applications for Bright Ideas Grant Due Saturday

Teachers can apply for a grant to fund innovative classroom projects this week.

The Bright Ideas grant, funded by Tri-County EMC, is open to all Georgia certified teachers in grades pre-k through 12 in public or private schools in Baldwin, Jones, Putnam, Twiggs and Wilkinson counties.

Projects could be funded for up to $1,500.

Applications should be received by Dec. 1.

Exchange Club Holds Charity Turkey Shoot in Twiggs County

The Four County Area Exchange Club will be having its annual Turkey Shoot on November 17th.  The event will kick off at 10a.m. and go until.  The Turkey Shoot is located on Hwy 80 ¼ mile west of Hwy 358. 

Signs leading to the event will be posted in the area of the Turkey Shoot with a large sign at the entrance. 

Its $5.00 a shell for a chance to win a turkey and $10.00 a shell for a chance to win a ham.  There will be food and refreshments on site.  All proceeds go towards funding the Four County Exchange Club’s endeavors. 

Exchange sponsors activities designed to benefit, award and develop our nation’s youth, promote crime prevention, serve senior citizens and recognize military and public safety service providers.

Exchange also promotes Americanism programs, and its national project is the prevention of child abuse.  The Exchange Club motto is Unity for Service.

Disruption in Jeffersonville Water to Occur This Week

Various locations will experience a disruption in water service Wednesday.

Jeffersonville Mayor Shannon Hart says the disruption begins Wednesday, November 14 and ends November 16.

The disruption is expected to occur for five to seven hours while the contract works on "Immediate Threat and Danger" repairs.

Here's the priority list of locations to repair:

 

1. November 14, Wednesday: Ridge Drive fire hydrant repair will shut down water service from Ridge Drive to Shannon Drive.

2. November 15, Thursday: Pinecrest Drive fire hydrant repair will shut down water service along Hwy 96 East from Main Street to Pinecrest Drive neighborhood.

3. November 16, Friday: Main Street fire hydrant repair will shut down water service along Main Street from North Church to Morningside Drive.
