Getting together for Thanksgiving may bring to mind turkey, football and of course, giving thanks.

But Thanksgiving in the USA also seems to have become a time to celebrate (and vent about) our dysfunctional families.

Four- county area Exchange Club Annual Turkey Shoot

The Four County Area Exchange Club will be having its annual Turkey Shoot on November 16th.  The event will kick off at 10a.m. and go until.  The Turkey Shoot is located on Hwy 80 ¼ mile west of Hwy 358.  Signs leading to the event will be posted in the area of the Turkey Shoot with a large sign at the entrance.

Its $5.00 a shell for a chance to win a turkey and $10.00 a shell for a chance to win a ham.  There will be food and refreshments on site.  All proceeds go towards funding the Four County Exchange Club’s endeavors.

Exchange sponsors activities designed to benefit, award and develop our nation’s youth, promote crime prevention, serve senior citizens and recognize military and public safety service providers.  Exchange also promotes Americanism programs, and its national project is the prevention of child abuse.  The Exchange Club motto is Unity for Service.

"Walk Among the Shadows" Tour Brings Dublin's Old City Cemetery to Life

A performance of "Walk Among The Shadows,” Dublin's living history tours of the Old City Cemetery, will be held Saturday, October 26, 2013, 4pm - 6pm in the Old City Cemetery located at 305 ½ W. Gaines Street in downtown Dublin. Designed to raise awareness of the historical value of the cemetery, "Walk Among the Shadows" shares Dublin's history using actors in period attire, increases tourism, and focuses on beautifying downtown.

Each tour lasts one hour, with tour times scheduled for 4 p.m., 4:20 p.m., 4:40 p.m., and 5 p.m. Tickets are $10 for adults, $5 for students, and can be purchased by calling 478-277-5074 or visiting Theatre Dublin’s box office from 9 a.m. to 5 p.m. Monday through Friday.

  • Our Cotton Pickin' Christmas Tree Farm, Hawkinsville. Check their Facebook page for updates.Pick your own pumpkin from the patch. Also enjoy cider or cocoa on the porch while the kids climb the hay mountain. Open 10 a.m. until 5 p.m.

Jeffersonville Continues Harvest Festival Planning

The Jeffersonville Harvest Festival countdown is on: 6 weeks left until the event.

According to a release from the mayor, the next planning meeting takes place on Tuesday, September 24 at 5:30 p.m. at City Hall.

The meeting includes updates from planning committees for the classic and antique cars, food booths, wild game supper, sponsors, craft booths, hospitality, decorations, entertainment, the parade and the 5k Run to the Center.

26th Annual Greg Couey Cystic Fibrosis Golf Tournament

Local Middle Georgia Families and business host the 26th Annual Greg Couey Cystic Fibrosis Golf Tournament.  The first tournament was organized by families who were effected or touched in some way by Cystic Fibrosis in 1987 and is held each year at the Riverview Golf Course in Dublin Georgia.  This year’s tournament will be held on October 5th 2013.
