Twiggs County High Needs Business Help for Youth Program

Twiggs County High School needs employers to employ high school juniors (11th graders) and seniors (12th graders) through its Youth Apprenticeship Program.

The Youth Apprenticeship program benefits students by offering them school-based and work-based learning opportunities that are related to students’ career interest areas.  Through Youth Apprenticeship, students are able to:

Twiggs County Family Receives Donation from Lumber Liquidators

In 2006, Jamie and Amanda McDaniel brought their second child into the world, a son named Marshall.  Marshall was born with the lung/digestive disease Cystic Fibrosis.  Cystic fibrosis is an inherited chronic disease that affects the lungs and digestive system of about 30,000 children and adults in the United States. A defective gene and its protein product cause the body to produce unusually thick, sticky mucus that clogs the lungs and leads to life-threatening lung infections; and obstructs the pancreas and stops natural enzymes from helping the body break down and absorb food.

Since birth, Marshall has been hospitalized twice for extended periods of time, once at the Medical Center of Georgia and another at the Children’s Hospital of Atlanta, both times with serious respiratory infections. Marshall has also underwent two surgeries to install and replace tubes, surgery to remove his adenoids, and three sinus surgeries to clean and remove sinus polyps.

Treat Yourself and the Children's Miracle Network

When you treat yourself to a Dairy Queen blizzard this Thursday, you're also treating the Children's Miracle Network.

Thursday marks Miracle Treat Day, a day where at least a dollar from every blizzard will go to Children's Miracle Network, according to a release.

Last year nationwide and in Canada, the fundraiser brought almost $5 million to Children's Miracle Network hospitals.

The Children's Hospital of the Medical Center of Central Georgia is a member of the Children's Miracle Network Hospitals.
