You can submit your Georgia property as a possible film location.

Some guidelines from Georgia.org's website:

 

1. Please include only one location per submission.  Multiple sites on a single property (such as a private home with a nice lake) are acceptable. 

 

Christian Book Club Starts in Various Counties

For anyone interested, and you live in Bleckley County, Dodge County, Pulaski County, Twiggs - the book club meets Saturday, September 10 from 10:30 until noon.

Books to be discussed will be fiction and the club is being sponsored by the Internet Cafe. We will be meeting the second Saturday of every month at different locations

This is for men and women.

Meetings take place the second Saturday of every month at different locations, but this Saturday will be the initial meeting.

The first book will be chosen at the first meeting.

Books will not cost members more than $7 and must be paid for when ordering.

Country Singer Blake Shelton to Perform at the Fair

A statewide favorite returns to Perry in October: The Georgia National Fair.

This year, the fair features country star Blake Shelton in concert on October 8 at 7:30 p.m.

The JaneDear girls open for Shelton.

You can buy tickets online starting August 27 at 9 a.m. Tickets are $30, and include fair admission when purchased in advance.

The fair is set for October 6-16 this year.

3-Day Paddle Event Celebrates Ocmulgee River Blue Way

 

The Georgia Canoeing Association and The Georgia Conservancy hosts a 3-day Fall Paddle on the Ocmulgee River from October 7 through 9 in Hawkinsville.

You can participate in one of the days or all three days.

The event serves to promote the nwe 54-mile Ocmulgee River Blue Way from Twiggs County to Pulaski County.

Paddles launch at Miles Branch Landing at the Hawkinsville Pulaski County Riverfront Park on S. Jackson St. in Hawkinsville.

Be Sure to Vote in the Georgia License Plate Contest

Voting reopened today for the Georgia License Plate design contest.

You can vote for one of the eight designs.

Voting ends August 8, 2011 at 3 p.m.

The winning license plate was to be announced Friday, July 15, but there was confusion surrounding the "in God we trust" label on some of the designs.

Get Ready...for the Barbarian Challenge!

You may want to go ahead and start training for the Barbarian Challenge.

It takes place September 24 all day from 8 a.m. until 5 p.m. at Paradise Off Road Park.

If you're asking what the Barbarian Challenge is, the website says: "We call it the hardest race you'll ever freakin' love!"
