A ceremony to celebrate breaking ground for the Twiggs County Library is set for Thursday, a Middle Georgia Regional Library system news release says.

The new library comes after a fire destroyed the original library in April of 2010 and is being rebuilt with funds from State Library Public Library Capital Outlay Grant Funds and insurance money from the Twiggs County Board of Commissioners.

Plans for the new library include 6700 square feeet with a 500 square footart multi-purpose room, a children's area, as well as computers with Internet.

Construction is slated for July 2012 and is expected to open in early 2013.

The groundbreaking ceremony is on Thursday, June 21 at 11 a.m. at the corner of Ash and Main St.

Hosts for the ceremony include the Twiggs County Library Board, the Twiggs County Board of Commissioners, the Twiggs County Board of Education and the City of Jeffersonville.
