Helping to Find a Cure for Cystic Fibrosis
Helping to Find a Cure for Cystic Fibrosis

Residents and friends of a local Twiggs County family took part in a fundraiser over the weekend to help find a cure for Cystic Fibrosis.  The McDaniel family of Danville Georgia has a son, Marshall McDaniel (7), and a nephew, Phillip Austin (19), that both suffer from cystic fibrosis.  The McDaniel and Austin families every year take part in the Middle Georgia Great Strides Walk that is held at the Geico Insurance Campus in Macon Georgia.

Great Strides is the Cystic Fibrosis Foundation's largest national fundraising event. More than 250,000 walkers come together across the country to help find a cure for CF.  In 2012, nearly $40 million was raised to help support life-saving research, quality care, and education programs related to cystic fibrosis.

This year the Middle Georgia Great Strides walk raised $82,701 in donations.  Team PM, Phillip & Marshall, raised $3,000 in donations.  To get involved or learn more about Great Strides or cystic fibrosis go to www.cff.org/great_strides.

The families would like to thank all their friends and neighbors that walked with their team and also made donations this year.  And they especially want to thank the Four County Area Exchange Club for their donation of $1,500 that was presented at the event by Exchange club representatives Chuck Grace and Emmitt Sherling.
