Georgia's Writers Museum announces their first Creative Writing Contest.

The deadline has been extended until July 1.

The winner will be announced at a reception on August 9 at 6 p.m. at the Plaza Arts Center in Eatonton.

Submissions accepted: April 15 – May 27, 2013

1. Entries shall be original, unpublished literary works in the genre of a short story, flash prose, essay or memoir. No poetry. Must be in English.

2. Entries are limited to 750 words.

3. Entries should be in Cambria or Georgia 12-point Font, double spaced.

4. Two (2) copies must be submitted. Copy one should be attached to the Submission form.
Copy two should be a “blind” copy, containing NO personal or identifying information.

5. Entry fee is $20 per submission.

6. Limit 3 entries per author.

7. Age – must be 18 years old or older as of April 15, 2013.

8. Author agrees to give the Georgia Writers Museum, Inc. permission to publish their entry for the purposes of publicity, marketing, and promotion without regard to copyright infringement.

PROCESS:
Blind entries will be distributed and read by a committee of sub-judges. These judges may be teachers, writers, or others in the literary field. Each sub-judge will submit their top three selections to the Chief Judge. The Chief Judge will have substantial literary credentials. The Chief Judge will read the selections and make the final award selections.
All decisions of the committee and the judges are final.

AWARDS: 
An Awards Reception will be held for the Writers and family on Friday, June 21, 2013.
Prizes: First prize will be awarded $125.00 cash. The winner will also be interviewed by Lake Oconee Living magazine and upon signing a release to LOL, the interview and entry will be published in the Fall 2013 edition of the magazine.
Second Prize: $75.00 cash 
Third Prize: $50.0 cash 
Honorable Mention: Award
All winning entries will be published in the Contest Brochure. Entries may also be published in the Eatonton Messenger/Lake Oconee Breeze for publicity purposes.
