Twiggs County to Rebuild Library

More than a year after a fire destroyed the Twiggs County Public Library, the county plans to rebuild and nearly double its size.

The old library building on Ash Street in Jeffersonville was destroyed during a fire on April 25, 2010. Emergency management officials said lightning was the likely cause of the blaze.

Earl Dennard, the county's library board chairman, says they plan to use a $1.2 million state grant and nearly $600,000 in insurance payments to rebuild.
