Irwinton Minister Running for Senate Seat

An Irwinton minister plans to run for a Central Georgia state senate seat.

Bobby Gale is director of Unto the Least of His ministries in Irwinton. Before that, he was pastor of several Wilkinson County United Methodist churches. He is 51.

He said his ministry trains people for mission work worldwide and also works to develop water wells in places like Uganda, Kenya and Ghana.

He will run as a Republican in Senate District 26, the seat being vacated by Robert Brown, who's running for mayor of Macon.

The Senate district covers Twiggs County and parts of Bibb, Houston and Wilkinson counties.

Former Macon state Rep. David Lucas also qualified for the post Monday. Macon city council president Miriam Paris says she's running but hasn't qualified yet.
